Dave Grohl’s Garage

Tonight was the airing of the 54th Grammy’s and although Adele did a pretty clean sweep, the event of the evening for me was from Dave Grohl. When the Foo Fighters got up to take accept their Grammy for Best Rock Performance for “Walk” which they recorded in Dave Grohl’s garage, they were talking about the true human element of skill and honing their craft without the fancy recording studios and all the best money could buy. They truly created a resourceful record using mics and a tape recorder to capture an amazing sound and it earned them a Grammy.

Check out this link from the Recording Revolution Blog which highlights their recording style in March of 2011.

Here’s the actual acceptance speech in case you missed it. It says it all.
